Default reflashing help

hi all, i flashed my 360 about 20 months ago, went for ages on live, then got banned. got a new console and didn't bother getting it done, but now for some reason i can't burn game iso's that work with the 360. so my question is can i reflash my old 360 with a newer firmware (as it seems the burner i'm using burns as dvdrom-dl and it looks like i need to bitset the booktype or something of the burner but my drive don't allow me to do it). oh and i need to mention that i don't have the original firmware the disk seems to have been lost when i moved, so is it possible??

You could update the firmware but it is most likely a bit-setting issue. Set your DVD burner to booktype to DVD-ROM.

I've never heard of a Panasonic 111d. Pioneer are the only company I know of who make 111d models. They bitset themselves automatically that's why they are the best choice. You could update the firmware, what model DVD drive do you have?

my bad it is a pioneer m8 sorry but it is dvr-111d. gonna see if i can just flash the 360 again so i don't have to change out my rom drive on the computer. but any chance i can update the firmware to allow me to manually do the bitsetting? (in case i can't re-do the 360?)

Why can't you flash the new 360? What disc drive is in that? What media are you using to copy the games onto? I think bitsetting on the Pioneer drives is automatic and firmware downgrades won't change that.

That's the best option if you don't know what you are doing as you can brick the Hitachi drives if they are flashed wrong. They can be recovered but the TSOP chip on the drive needs to be reprogrammed which is a pain to do and you need to have an expensive chip programmer like the Willem to do it.
