AMI Bios?

1 long 3 short is a memory problem. Pop the case off, unclip the ram chips remove and slot them home again. If the error continues replace the ram chips.

Take proper static precautions.

If you have more than one strip of memory try replacing one at a time, the computer will run slower but you should be able to detect if one of them is faulty.
You can run some software, to test your computer hardware, there should be some free, or trial, software available, try an internet search.

When booting the PC/Laptop push F2 or DEL key and enter the BIOS.
Goto a section where you see `Restore default settings` or similar and then click SAVE AND EXIT then let the computer reboot and see if you get the beeps.

If you do, its time to start using a process of elimination as mentioned above.
