Not a single bean, software on all ok.
Scanning turns up nothing, not even the standard 1 - 5 or freeview channels!

hi are you scanning the right area ie tw or ntl when you have done the scan make sure emu is switched on press the menu button then 1575 and scroll down to where it say emu and make sure it says on then exit to a pay channel and let it up date
make sure you have got the cable in the back of the box in the write hole

Yes sounds like the simply mistake like not putting your live cable into the CABLE IN slot, but instead you may have put it into the RF slot, then likes you have said ....Not a single bean..
