I think tbh the c14 popping is quite unusual on a max v units and the fact you've put a new psu rules that out as the fault anyway. It deffo sounds like it may need jtagging m8

Ive just jtagged one back to life for a m8

He said it never needed the keys manually updating but the firmware on it was september 07 WTF

The pixilation is now unbearable with the 8% problem!!

Tried the 8% firmware but made no difference whatsoever

Any suggestions

The jtagging process is quite simple m8, it may have been a problematic box that you had before and thats whats putting you off. I get what you were asking originally now and usually it will be 1 fault or the other very rarely both will need doing but you wont know for certain it may be neither of the faults mentioned and the mainboard could be knackered altogether. Its a decision your going to have to take based on the asking price if its worth risking.

I'll give it a go later m8

just seen your post over on AF
Fix for 1st Gen maxv's with tuner problems after flash !
1: do a factory reset
2: reflash unit with the (MAX V KURO BETA WS SB) from the d/l section
3: once flashed switch on signal booster within TV settings then flash your cdf or do a scan cdf is best if you have 1.
4: edit keys manually if needed and check premium channels arent pixelating or missing, if ok move on to next step.
5: repeat step 1
6: flash with kuro 3 fix 18-4-08
7: repeat step 3

Is there much success from this method?

PS sorry for hijacking Patch
