Default Switch off Live Messenger automatic sign in

How can you stop Windows Live Messenger automatically signing in once the check box has been ticked, as the check box window no longer appears, and it isn't listed in the options menu? I could uninstall it from the Windows components add/remove list and reinstall it, I suppose, but is there a quicker way? I once accidentally uninstalled some Windows components, (Digital Media Enhancements), using the add/remove utility and couldn't get them back until I ran a full destructive system recovery, but I'm pretty sure that Windows Live Messenger, (like Outlook Express), can easily be removed and reinstalled this way. Still, I'd prefer to know if there's an alternative.

I could stop it running in many ways, but what I wanted to do was stop it signing in automatically, which isn't the same thing. Thanks anyway, and the problem is now sorted.
