When you say `wrong`, how wrong?

The PSUs that are used are 10v, a 9, 10, 11 or 12v should be fine, I've had a 15v one running on an Ambit just fine.

You might find that the MAH is way too high for the modem and if a typical 10v-12v psu will no longer work, then i'm afraid it sounds like you've cooked it!

sounds like you have blown a voltage regulator in the 250, if your any good at soldering you could try and find which one is blown & replace it, other than that replace your 250...
