The Diablo Cam will still work, even if it becomes available on general emulation.

I was not inferring that the Diablo would stop working, just trying to save the lads some money, why buy it if the channels are going to become available on the EUMs, was my thinking. I am sure that most people here would understand that things which are rumored to be happening do not always happen. It is a case of waiting for the crack or buying the cam, I am in the miserable sods, so will wait.

Very best regards Wez

Most receivers have a CI slot, which takes a cam, and most are compatible with the Diablo Cam, and other cams.
Also the company produces their own STB with a built in Diablo Cam, called the Q Box, a new HD version of which is due out in a few weeks.
It might be wise to wait a couple of weeks for future developments.
Nothing in this hobby is guaranteed and we never know what might be available in the future or when the providers will stop us viewing their channels for free.
We do know that both Digi TV and Polsat are in the process of upgrading their encryption, and sending out new subscription cards, but I can't tell you when the old N2 encryption will be turned off.

It is wise to wait. I am only in the planning phase and greatly appreciate all of the feedback in this forum. I want to maximize my investment and at the same time, enjoy the hobby.

Cheers.

Yes, nothing ever stays open forever as providers need subscribers to keep going and who's going to pay when they can get it for free.
I believe the EEC is looking at a new proposal, television without borders, which hopefully might mean that we can legally subscribe to the packages we want ot view, and pay the same price as residents of that country, but we'll have to wait and see.

I read a bit about this, but don't hold your breath, it was, as far as I can remember 30 years ago that this was first proposed and it is only now that, those fat cat bureaucrats in Brussels are looking into it.

We all know that there were supposed to be no borders in the Common Market, but there are. Here in Ireland they have what they call VRT, what it does is charge anyone who imports a car, even from Northern Ireland, an outlandish tax for registering that car. It is import duty and it is illegal, but they get away with it, like not having the recommended water cleanliness. Ireland has broken just about any law they laid down in Europe and they will continue to do so with complete immunity. They are now charging workers €200 a year for parking in the car parks of their employers, all rip off Ireland.

The EU is less than useless and you can bet your bottom dollar that Murdock will have his say in this, as he does in everything to do with satellite TV all round the world.

Very best regards Wez

These cards are a total rip.

Pay for a box and when they need a few dollar they bring a card out that only works in their box instead of supporting the original hardware.

its like card pairing for pirates.
