Default Formatted hdd in receiver by mistake

I got a new notebook 320Gb hdd on saturday and it worked a treat, recorded both sd & hd with no problems, until I tried to connect it to the pc, when it is plugged in I get USB Device Not Recognised. I have since learned that I should not have formatted the drive in the Technomate 6900 hd super combo as it is greater than 30Gb ( which I did ) anyone got any idea of how I can get the pc to recognise the drive ? any information would be greatly appreciated as I cannot put any files from the new harddrive onto my pc.
By the way, it is Tiny Tech TY2501/SATA if this helps at all

Regards
Graham

Hi Graham

Could you post the make and model number of the hard drive and what OS you are using? It should pick the device up regardless of the formatting. The model and OS might give some additional hints as to what the problem could be.

Managed to find the disk drive enclosure on abadicomputer dot com. I can not tell if it has it's own power supply, if it doesn't do you have many other usb devices connected to your PC? Or do you use another usb hard drive without a power supply that doesn't cause problems?

I have had trouble with a usb hdd that was powered from the PC, a shorter usb lead cured the problem.

Hi mate I did exactly the same as you I have a freecom 320 gb as recommended by tm I wanted a 500 but didn’t want to be left with it not working properly and then some smarty pants saying well you should have got a usb powered hd as recommended by tm anyway download the zip file and follow the instructions there not particularly clear but I didn’t write them tm did im not that impressed by my tm 6900 super I cant record one channel whilst watching another and when the timer starts it just switches to that station even if you were half way through watching something else and its got two receivers …why? Im now thinking I could have saved myself a lot of time money and effort by just getting a second hand sky box any way hope the file helps and good luck
