dont know if this is a stupid question but can i watch video at that resolution,when i watch video full screen it seems a bit blocky(well ****e really)but when i play games eg pro evo 09 at 1600x1200 the picture quality is far clearer,

A lot depends on the source of the video. VHS recordings are nowhere near that resolution, and neither are most camera video.

No as said above vhs is lower resolution than a standard tv picture, you will get a better picture if you have monitor on sd setting.

soz people i should have been more specific i meant to watch avi s, dvds etc and not actual video(vhs) my monitor is a dell 2007fp 20" and thanx for ur replies

Just in case that was a follow-up question, it (again) depends on the resolution of the original recording - most avi and dvd recording will be lower res, except where they say 'high definition'.

Depending on how you play your vidoes you could use a software filter which replicates the function of an upscaling circuit in a HDTV. This would reduce the blockiness and flickering effects (when the source and display framerates differ).
