Default Motorised and fixed dishes on one installation

Can I have two dishes, one fixed and a motorised one working together? I think the theory seems to work, but any problems in practice? For example current loss or volts drop through the switch, or can I put the switch after the motor? Can't think why not. Any tips from anyone with this arrangement appreciated.

What I'm thinking is the fixed dish will point to Hotbird 13E, then other satellites via the motorised dish, A DiSEqC switch connecting the two LNBs to the receiver. Will this work OK?

Yes, I have a simiilar arrangement, 16E,19E and 28E on a fixed dish, and the rest on a motor.

Wire:-

Receiver->Motor->Switch->LNBs

I have it on a 1m Orbital, using their 3-9 degree offset bracket. It is a good bracket, because the central LNB is not affected by the position of the Offset LNB, which it is on the Triax.

A twin tuner receiver would be slightly problematical with a motorised dish, as the 2nd tuner would not be able to control the motor. So both tuners would only be able to tuner to one satellite.

With the Extra multi -LNB dish part of the arrangement it would be plain sailing. You would just fit 2 Diseqc switches and twin LNBs on (and a twin for the motorised). Both tuners would then have access to all fixed LNBs independently. The motorised LNBs position controlled by the 1st tuner, so as above the 2nd tuner would have to tune to the same satellite if the Diseqc switch was set to the motorised LNB position.

Does that make sense?

I only know what size I need down here, and an 88cm does it easily, with a nice strong signal on the offset. I would get away with an 80cm I believe.

Since you have a 70cm already, why not experiment with that? If you moved 19E off the focus a bit so that 28E could come over, you might have success.

this is what ive got at mo:

twin tuner toppy with motor on tuner1 and fixed 28e on tuner 2 everything works great i can record from 1w and 28e perfect i can even record 2 prog from 28e if motor has dish at 28e, this is the best setup for me at mo.

however i cant get 19e on motor (tuner1) as trees in way but i have a fixed on 19e for eurosport that is higher.

would it work if i put a 2 to 1 diseq on the fixed dishes, ie 19e and 28e and then i assume 1 cable back to stb on tuner2.

im then thinking that if iwant to view 19e on tuner2 it would change channel ok then if i want to go back to 28e on tuner2 it would just change between the two.

would it effect the motor on tuner1? this should stay independent from the other.

the diseq has 2 inputs and 1 ouput im assuming 2 inputs is from the dishes and the output is the cable to the stb?
