I've recently solved a long standing, (and very annoying), glitch in RealPlayer 11, so I thought I'd post this in case anyone else has encountered the same issue - I couldn't find any information in web searches on the subject, so hopefully seaches will bring others with the same problem here in future. Whenever I tried to create a playlist, after a shortish, but variable time, the program would freeze, with the cursor flickering, and could not be shut down without a PC reboot. The new items added to the playlist would then be lost and I'd have to begin again, closing and reopening RP frequently, so that when the inevitable happened, at least most of the playlist had been saved. Sometimes the data base repair which RP ran after crash shut down wouldn't reinstall all the files, and so I'd have to import them manually again. I also found that having accidentally deleted a few flvs, some, but bizarrely not all, of the exact same videos I'd been able to download before without problems, now wouldn't play when I downloaded them again. The byte size appeared correct, but the RP screen remained blank and there was no sound as it 'played'. I could download the same videos using a proxy, like KeepVid, in either flv or mp4 formats, and play them successfully in RP that way, but the flvs downloaded through RP wouldn't play properly in another flv player like VLC either, jumping and stuttering, although they did play with some sound and vision. I discovered eventually that this was caused by a missing, or out of date, Adobe FlashPlayer plug-in in IE7. I never use IE if at all possible, and even then, only by using the IE tab add-on in FF3, so I hadn't realised that the link between IE and RP was the cause of all the hassle. Having installed FP10 in IE7, (same version as in FF3), everything is now working fine.
