I am interested to find out peoples views on this, If in the very near future the Pay TV Providers managed to shut down all access to their channels through every method other than paying for it, where do you stand and what would you do.
My personal opinion is i would to an extent, I would pay for channels that I want and can choose myself rather than a pre-determined package chosen for me. I also do not want to pay for channels that have approximately 15 mins of advertisements per hour as i feel customers are being forced to pay for it out of both pockets in this situation. You also have channels that have content that was originally funded for by the BBC and in these circumstances customers are paying to watch something thats already been paid for with license fees. Even when watching sports everywhere you look has adverts which are designed for the viewing masses and not the fans that are there. Its ridiculous and customers are paying through the nose for this nonsense. All this begs the question, who is really being swindled ?

I download tv shows rather than watch them because the adverts infuriate me an hour to watch a 42 min show.

Some very good points re: amount of adverts and BBC shows which I'd never thought of before. In terms of sports(for football anyway) the advertising boards around the pitch are upto each individual club and its the club that receives any revenue. |
