I too am looking at one of these , they seem to be going for around the £250 mark but are these only good for the fta channels or do they work in the same way the eurovox boxes work on cable , ie all the channels come through ?

Also what is the basic subscription to sky or could you just get a one-off package without an on-going subscription ?

They will work when connected to a Sky dish. You will ONLY get the free to air channels - the sky encryption is secure so theres no way to hack it open.

The Sky subscription starts at 17quid a month for one entertainment package, going up to about 50 quid for all the full monty with movies & sport. No one off payments available - you have to pay monthly

Perhaps the most pointless eurovox device ever to be invented if that is the case.

Such a shame as I to would liked to have purchased one of these especially with the prices sky charge these days.

Give thanks to whatwever deity you might believe in for the sky encryption to remain secure. If its ever compromised I guarantee the recent cable key change will look like a picnic in the park compared to the chaos which will occur a several hundred thousand of the great unwashed pile into all the forums saying

"give me free football now"
