Default Help with Ambit 255

I recently bought an Ambit 255 modem which I believe has been flashed with Infinite Firmware. The modem is working brilliant and I have no problems with it at all.

I'm due to move house soon so I thought it would be a good idea to get a friend round who knew a bit about how it's done to show me how to re-mac it through an ethernet cable. Whilst he was here I believe he installed all the necessary software on my computer to do this. When I run NTL250 Configurator and put the password he thinks it should be in it doesn't work.

Can someone out there tell me what I need to do to get round this or help me make sure I hav been doing everything right as it is driving me insance.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Guys

default user/ password for infinite is:

user : infinite
pass : password.

you might have to email the seller of the modem to ask him the password

Thanks for that. I've tried using those and also a password and username which he sometimes uses but unforutnately I get a message saying incorrect username/password and that I should reboot the modem if I want to retry. No I'm a little stuck as I don't know if it is a setting elsewhere of if the modem is going to need new firmware to reset the password.

I have the following installed alongside the NTL250 configurator:

vjredist.exe
dotnetfx.exe

When trying to communicate with the modem I am using the following settings under TCP/IPv4:

IP Address: 192.168.100.10
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.100.1

Once again any help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys

to be honest mate if you know how to do it, just reflash the modem again with infinite take about 15 mins then you will be back up and running.
get your mate to do it if you cant.

Thanks vermin for the help so far.

I would love to re-mac the modem myself as the person I got the modem from isn't being too helpful at all. He just keeps reeling off the same username and password and I can't get this to work.

Can anyone tell me how I would go about this as I am pretty much a newbie to all of this and thus far finding it very interesteing.

Once again thanks in advance for any help as it is greatly appreciated.

if you feel brave then buy a max 232 from TMC and have a go flashing yourself, its a learning curve but hopefully with an end result.
you need to read the `haynes guide` to get your head around the flashing process but there are tools to help you after you have done that so you dont have to edit using telenet to manually change settings

if you want the guide pm me your addy

Is it easier to re-mac using this lead?

I can't fathom ot out through the maual though. What are the steps I need to take.

Thanks again mate you've been agreat help so far.
