Default Using the search function!!

Hey all, not to sound daft but i'm having a hard time using the search function! I don't really want to start new threads asking about stuff thats already been discussed BUT take for example right now i'm looking for a solution to the starview epg problem. So i click adv search and type in starview epg, it will only return results with the word starview in it and omits epg. I then try "starview epg" with quotes around it and now it finds NO results. I then try starview+epg and againit only brings results for starview but no epg!! Someone want to tell me what i'm doing wrong?

You get that sometimes, try think of another word that would be more commonly used like menu or programme guide and try that in the starview section, if you cant get anything up then it will be safe to ask,

How come it worked for me though? Or is it a random error on the forum?

Oh, it's because the search function is limited to only searching for words at 4 characters or longer. It wont include anything at 3 characters or less.

You can fix that by going to "Vbulletin Options" then to "Message Searching Options" and changing the Search Index Minimum Word Length from 4 to 3. I run vbulletin on a site and had to do the same for users.

No probs - I've reduced it to 3 characters but it may take a while for the forum to update its search index with this.
