Default Which CAMs work?

Thanks to suggestions from the excellent people on this forum (you know who you are!) I now know from personal experience these two CAMs work:
  • Blue Zeta, flashed with 0.79 Joker firmware
  • Icecrypt (I've got a Black one), flashed with 0.79 Joker firmware
I'm wondering if there are any other kind of CAMs that work with cable? Anyone know of any?

Background:
As regular readers will know, I'm having problems with a dozen or so channels not decrypting which causes my VMC to stop decrypting all of them (this situation where if one breaks, they all break appears to be a TVPack/VMC feature from reading on other forums). Seeing as I can receive the problem channels fine via softcam, this means the problem's either in my choice of CAM, or funcard files. As I wouldn't have a clue how to make a flash file (my username is NOT ironical), I'm wondering about trying to make a MOSC from an ebay ROM card, or trying a different CAM.

Thanks.

Hi Stu think it's very unlikely to be cam, card or img if it works on some channels...it points to a weaker signal from a transponder....have u tried a signal booster?

when u say softcam works....using what application?....did u try the hardcam with the same app?

cheers

Hi TwinTown. Agree completely it's unlikely to the CAM/card/img but clutching at straws now. I've got no signal boosters in my setup but my FloppyDTVs are being run off the first (3 way) splitter with my subbed box and modem moved to the next splitter.

Last night, I changed to the latest (20 Oct) BDA drivers for the FloppyDTV, then installed the latest ProgDVB. Couldn't get this working, so uninstalled it and installed the older one from the downloads section. Then set up a transponder list using the EXACT same frequencies as my FireDTV reg file. Finally installed the latest vplug and ran a scan. It picked up all the channels and vplug was able to decrypt every one. Each channel showed 100% signal and quality. Switched off vplug, switched on the CI slot.... and ProgDVB crashed every time I did that. Oops.

Installed DVBDream instead, followed by vplug, followed by a transponder list with the same numbers as my reg file in the same order. Again, scan picked everything up and vplug worked on every channel. Quality and signal again 100% on every channel. Switched off vplug, switched on the CI and the following channels wouldn't decrypt (I've included the transponder they're on):

Bravo 555
Bravo +1 555
Dave 579
EuroNews 507
Film4 563
Film4 +1 563
Fiver 419
ITV4 563
Nick Jnr 2 547
Rangers TV 675
Sly Premier +1 595
Sly Sports Xtra 595
Sly 2 635
Sly 3 635
Sony Ent TV Asia 475
Speed Auction TV 611
UKTV Gardens 579

As you can see, they're on different transponders and oddly other channels on the same transponder were fine! On each one I went from vplug to CI and each one worked on vplug, but not on CI. Tried comparing keys being used on vplug with other channels, and the keys were the same. These channels are the same ones I have problems with on VMC where selecting one comes up "service is scrambled".

At least now I've finally made a list I can hide them in VMC to stop me accidentally selecting one, but I'd really like to have these channels back or at least understand why I can't decrypt them via CI. Admittedly, I'm pretty sure I can live without Rangers TV, UKTV Gardens, etc, but I'd really like Dave, Bravo, Film4 and Sly working!

Apologies for the epic post but I wanted to show just I've tried before asking for help.

don't think it's the cam or card then, maybe worth looking at the img....can u read the eeprom in nagra edit and look at the standard tier in the data editor......if there is a range of tiers (unlikely)there may be a tier missing for these channels or if it is a single tier then the min channel / max channel range may not be wide enough...worth having a look at

cheers
