Default Modem Help

Hi All,
Been a while since i have posted on Modem section.
A while back, just 2 days prior to infinity firmware going capoot and after a lot of trial and error I managed to hacked my first modem.
I thought I was the bees kness then 2 days later back to square 1.
Since then I have not had the time to try again but now I would like to give it another go.
I tried to reserch the Hayes manual but seems to be off-line.
I would be most grateful if any of you good peeps could point me in the direction of a up to date tutorial.
I have cables, a 120 and a 250 to practice on.
Many many thanks
Taz

Hi Again,
First may I say thanks to Vermin for his kind help.
I noticed the current guide is very similar to the guide I used a while ago using Infinite Firmware.
The modems I done a while ago went down when they zapped Infinite.
Can I assume that this is new and improved Infinite firmware.
I followed the guide last-night and eventually managed to hack a 250 giving me 20mg ( thanks )
How long do you think this modem will last ?????

Also I would like to aske a few more questions if I may

1. USB Mac - the TUT asks for this during hacking but I was not sure how to obtain this.
I seemed to remember that the USB Mac addy is 1 didget away from the actual mac addy you use,
I tried this and it seemed to work, is this correct.
2. Previously when I hacked a modem I installed the firmware then at a certain point ( which I cant recall ) I used 250 Configurator to write settings etc.
Is this still possible and at what point do you switch.
3. Can any of you nice peeps point me in the direction of Guides for 120, 200 + 255 modems
Many many thanks again
Taz

the modem will last for as long as the mac you have cloned keeps there sub

the usb mac is the hfc plus one.

after you flash the modem and restart it you then use ambit configurator. you could also use hyperterminal and winstock to do the last few changes ie, freq and login and pass.

it is essential you change the pass and login.

Thanks G77,

Can you explain why changing user name and password is so important.
Also I am about to try and mod a 200.
I have all the apps and guide, problem is where and in what order do I connect the Max 232 cable and can you use TFPD 32 to flash bin file instead of solaris winds
Many thanks for help

Because like us; virgin know the default passwords used with the firmware. This gives them access to your modem, which then means bye bye connection.

To be honest though I have been running Infinite everywhere without a password and I have yet to have a modem stop and I have been doing it for a while. However its still reccomended that you change the pass.

tftp and solarwinds are the same thing.

if your flashing the 200 with sigma, you can remove the max after you have flashed, you then configure with ambit configurator and/or the 192.168.100.1:1337
