JTAG woes

hey,
i'm trying to jtag a pace 4000 box to get the BK, and i've tried teh two jtag leads i have access two one is the xilinx jtag lead that came with a friend's apartan development board

the other is the "usb powered all in one bufered jtag" by diygadget

i've got the parallel port set to ecp + epp in the bios, and the plug n play mode is enabled in windows xp, i've got mac_mot.sys loaded, but i keep getting the error saying the cable is not connected.

do i need to use a different type of jtag lead? i've tried everything i can think of to get either of these leads to work, any help is GREATLY appreciated

Could be the lead but leave the parallel port in ecp mode and change the port from 278 to I think its 378 in the bios its worth a try.

still no joy, i think i might try the max232 mod and try libby.

i've given up on trying to do this box myself now, anyone near glasgow who is up for jtagging the box and either unlooping the rom10 card with it, or doing me a funcard drop me a pm please

id try libby pal just a thought m8 have you tryed the database there is suppose to be a few in there you never no wish i could help more pal

i checked the database, but it wasnt in there, i figured i'd try there before i tried anything else. i guess i'll give libby a go later, another trek to maplin for bits i guess

You need the right type of jtag, id be suprised if you can get it with libby.

okm latest thing, i got libby working, turns out in my box o bits i had the exact chip the box was missing at the point where you solder wires to, and some surface mount caps, so i've put the chi on the board, and a header into the connector bit and used a serial header from an old pc. works brilliantly. i got the netid se tto my one, but didnt get teh BK. the ird mathces the one scribbled in pen on teh bottom, but there's nothing that looks like a box key written there, and i couldnt get it with libby, i got the IRD and then a bundle of XXX

however, i now have the card in the engineer menu saying "never paired" whereas i'm 100% certain it didnt say that befoer. have i got it to the point i can't use this box and i'm better off buying a new box that doesnt need a card?

It doesnt matter about the card if you can j tag it, the card has probably got a 6D 56 bk but you can still unloop it and reprogramme it with right bk, or just j tag it and use a fun card. you wont get bk with libby.

cool, thanks. i'll order a jtag lead from lincsat, and probalby go the funcard route, since i'd rather not buy an unlooper i'll only need once
