R4 is it fake?

I recently bought a R4 card for a friend from Amazon, i have had 2 R4 cards from the same seller and have both worked fine, however this one just gets stuck on Loading...screen i have tried everything listed on forums to get it to work and it wont, but the thing is i have made sure that the DS can read them (checked with another R4 and it works fine) i have put the micro SD into a R4 card that i know works and the same happens - still stuck on loading. I then tried the micro SD from my working R4 card in the new one and it wont work either, so it seems neither the R4 or micro SD works. I can open the micro SD on my computer so i'm completly confused! can anyone help (same sofrware an most recent Kernal downloaded and wont work)? is my R4 card a fake?
Pervious cards have all had R4 printed onto them and this one has Super Card R4 Revolution 3 for DS printed on it, is it a fake?

i had the same problem with deluxe r4. always stuck on loading. downloaded kernel from website printed on the box and it was sorted. the r4 deluxe is the sdhc version.

To be fair it's probably better if it's a fake as they do not make r4's any more thus the official r4's no longer have software support where as the fake r4's do.

A lot of people are coming across fake clones of the R4 which are less reliable and may damage your Nintendo DS. One of these fakes includes the "R4 version 3".

R4 3's are not a 'fake', they are just made by a different manufacturer now.

' however this one just gets stuck on Loading...screen' ... you will be using the wrong software, go to xxx and use the most recent download. For some strange reason the software on the disc provided is for the older R4's.

Older r4 chip runs on an older software.If you try to load a Newer game or
put a +2g card in then it hangs up.You need software metioned in last message.Remove old software and replaced with kennel 1.18 .This should get the games running.

just bought some r4's and had same prob,sofware with it dont work.

had to d/l new software and now fine,useing 2 gig cards 30 games and not a prob at all..

p.s
heard a rumor that after new year,all the new games out,will not work on r4's,any1 heard the same?

Some times new games don't work but they release new firmware to make them work
