Default Newbies ....If Your New read this....

Hi, it does seem very daunting when you first start out - it did to me, and still does most of the time, but try to be patient, you will get there eventually.

Personally only been on this forum for about a month - I've read through loads of others and in my opinion this one's the best !!

The best way of getting around is reading loads of posts - and I mean READ them not whizz through, taking notes as to where things are because its a bummer when you've go to back and forth just looking to the next bit that your up to.

The Jargon is a nightmare but you'll soon get into the basics of "Techish" bits I've learned so far are:

Cam - ( Short for Conditional Access Module) A sexy little gadget that allows you to download files onto it then put it in your receiver to unscramble certain channels. Not that I would condone this, because its very naughty and all the information on these sites are for educational purposes only. But apparently they do work if implemented correctly.

Receiver - This is the box like many people already have in there homes, but as been tweeked along the way by many Nutty Professors and given sexy or enigmatic names such as Dreambox, Technomate, Dark Box etc .. to name a few - There are bloody loads of them. And there is a section which gives you the pro's and cons on each one for you to read through before you decide to purchase one, or usually as the case may be read through and think "Oh Bugger" wish I'd bought that one instead !!

Dish - This is the big round thing on the outside of the house that receives the signals from the satellites, not what you have your cereals in !

EMU - is not a big bird that lays big eggs and buries its head in the sand, it is short for an Emulator. (Dont actually know what it really is - but if you dont turn it on when you download an Underworld File, it dont work properly) See "How to Download a Diablo Cam" in the help section. Also in there you'll find many more Cams and "How To..."

AU. is not an abbreviation for an Austrialian - it means Automatic Update and when the screen says Keys expired message, this is when its booting in, so dont worry its meant to do that !

There are lots and lots more abbreviations and jargon you wont understand at first but hang in there - and if you want to know something just ask, the guys on here are really helpful. Dont be frightened of starting a thread - and dont be disappointed if nobody answers your question straight away, its not a phone in, but someone will get back to you eventually.

Usually all the questions have been answered somewhere in the forum - so use the Search Facility - it works !!

If all that fails post a photo of a Mucky Bird in your profile and sling £50 in the donation pot and the rest is plain sailing !! It worked for me !!

Good Luck and enjoy !!
