Default sb4200 speed

hi had the modem 4 about a month and its a 20mb, been doin speedtests and they are all roughly saying that my speed is down 3613kb/s up 536kb/s (speedtest.net) are these speeds accurate for being 20mb.thanx

erm thats disappointing mate, your getting 3.5mb/s out of a so called 20mb/s line. thats bad. If i get that out of my hacked modem today, i wont be using it

well ive now changed the mac about 30 times now and they have all been 20mb macs and yet my speed tests always say the same thing 1900kb/s to 2200kb/s line speed anyone got any suggestions?

I doubt they are all 20mb MACs, the config file just sounds like its being forced. Try changing config files, there is more than one single 20mb config, they can all be found in the forum. It could just be that your area has a poor connection, my friend cannot get over 15mb, even with 3 modems, just the distance from the exchange I'm afraid.

I can only assume you are using Ethernet and not USB as that would slow you down, also try a different server on SpeedTest.Net I dont get full 20mb on the reccomended server.

When you download a file from a fast source, what rate do you usually get? A fast source would be Microsoft or Nvidia. Typically on a 20mb connection your peak should be about 2.4mbps, thats what I get on most my downloads.

my mate connected his sb4200 to my line and the macs that i was trying he was trying also and yet when he done his testing he was getting 8-9mb with every mac.as soon as i done a test all i get is about 1400 - 2000kb/s with exactly the same macs my mate was trying
