Default auto key entry possible????

I know someone who has just bought the ex1000 SL, and was told it auto updates, now Ive had a look around the forum and seen reference to some eurovox auto updating, but I cant figure out what is auto updating... They were led to believe that if virgin issue new keys, these will update and just work again...

Are any of the eurovox's capable of auto updating their keys, and if so how, AFAIK none of them have an internet conneciton, or similar for obtaining info automatically...

I was under the impression that they all either had to have manual key entry, or null modem cable conneciton for serial access to the device... and use of hyperterminal or other comms manager...

when the cable company changes the encryption k*ys the firmware on the box automatically calculates what they are and updates the system.
However the cable company has managed to beat the firmware method so it is not auto updating anymore therefore the K*ys will have to be put in manually until the experts bring out a new firmware,
the new firmware will then have to be flashed to the box using a null modem cable to connect the box to PC.

until yesterday, if you had latest firmware, boxes updated, vermin have now changed the way it updates keys and the boxes cant read them, you will have to enter keys manually until there is a fix, which you will have to download and transfer to box via null modem cable

all i know is that euro vox and other boxs have a progam that can work out the new keys every time virgin updates them ,

the euro vox only needs to be conected to pc for new firmware instaling or if you want to use voxer a progam for sorting your channels out it does not use the internet at all to work

last year virgin did something to stop our boxs updateing automaticaly then new soft ware was made to install on euro vox to get round that and from then to now the boxs have worked fine

now virgin has once again has thrown a spaner in the works and for the min you have to update keys manualy till the new update is released last time it was about a week
if you want any technical information about how it works you find it already on the site some where and i ve just given my best understanding of it
