Hi all, sorry to drag this up, but it is stickied for a reason, and i'm in a pickle too and finding help on vplug and MP is like poking butter up a porcupines a*se with a red hot needle!
Ok, here's my deal. I'm running vista HP (32-bit), 2gb ram and after running MP1 RC2 with vplug 2.39 and mdapi for ages, suddenly i cannot get non-fta channels to work anymore, vplug doesn't seem to AU (after a VM keyroll). Updated vplug to 2.4.1, but still no joy. We then had a power cut and since then my MP won't work. So.... completely uninstalled MP, rebooted and put on the FINAL MP 1.0.0.0, re-installed mdapi and vplug 2.4.1. I altered xml doc and renamed my card. Then created a subfolder named the same as the renamed card in the xml file. Although it also created another folder, one with a '0' and the other with a '1' at the end. So i installed vplug into each folder. (thinking about it i didn't alter the amounts of 'instances' to 2 (seeing as i have 2 folders now). Could this be an issue?) Still can only get fta channels to work. I tried the 'Stresstest.exe' but it just opens a window for a millisecond then closes and does nothing else (i did create a tv group called 'test' as it says to do). I can't confess to understanding all the log entries when i look at them so i'm non the wiser with that i'm afraid. I did read somewhere that i needed to overwrite a nagra.mdl(?) file. Is this correct? Also, do i need a better softkey.cam file than the one i have? If so, what constitutes a good file? Any advice would be most appreciated. I love MP, its just a pity its so randomly troublesome at times. Gonna try the previous posting advice and see whats happens.....if i can actually understand it all. btw... my provider on my eurovox is 5401 (pure), yet i've always had to have 5501 as my provider in vplug, god knows why. (just like some others here). Thanks in advance. |

To run thru this methodically. I do not see where you registered the madpifilter.dll (regsvr32 mdapifilter.ax). I guess the install shield for MDAPI2008 does it but if the next bit fails this is where you need to head

lol, it is indeed a small world, thanks for the reply.
Thinking aloud the mdapi filter i installed is the same one i've had for nigh on a year now i think. Can't find what actual version it is. But, moving on.... my s0ftkey.cam is one i've had for a year also. If there is a better one i should be using then, i'll gratefully accept your offer thanks. (see pm)I'm running MP1.0.0.0, looks like the Cam limit bit in tv server config. has moved/changed (from memory anyway). Gonna try the rest and report back. Cheers |

Cheers Ugg, grabbing it now.
I've done what you said in your last post. But still i can only view fta channels. I'm using the v_keys.db file you sent me. However, after rebooting its still no different, and now i cannot get vistatrayicon to load so i can't see whats happening in the vplug monitor. Not that i know what i'm looking for, but sometimes you get a clue from there. ![]() So i'll delete mdapi and try the newer one. In the meantime, a couple of n00b type questions if i may; 1. v_keys.db - what info does it contain? 1. I've always kept and put a s*ftkey.cam in the vplug folder, but not really sure what it does tbh. Should i still do this? Having read your bit on the mdapi post its a way of using multiple cams instead of hardware? ![]() Cheers |

ok Ugg, you just happen to be:
DA MAN!!!!!! ![]() It seems the latest version of mdapifilter2008 has cured my ills. Weird thing though; it wouldn't start once i'd installed mdapi, it just kept crashing tvserver service. BUT it did still create the mdapicards.xml file, so i went from there, put vplug 2.4.1 back on and hey nonny no, all channels working again. So. many thanks for all your help dude. I can now leave the mrs watching bbc hd while i go back to killing scum in cod5. |

Well......it didn't last very long!
![]() 24 hours really. Turned htpc on tonight, wouldn't tune to ch4 saying "audio/video not present" or something like that. Restarted pc and now it can get ch4 and all fta channels, but not scrambled ones, again! So i'm back to square one again really. Does my fkin head in. Ugg if you, or anyone else has any clue what the cause of my issues may be, once again, i'd be very grateful for any input. Cheers |

What OS do you use and if vista get the madpi tray icon to working so you can see what vplug is doing. Look in the MDAPI2008 folder you downloaded to get info, the vista tray icon files need copied in the tv server folder then it restarts the TV server service and you should see you tray icons for vplug and mdapi
The mdapifilter log for XP is ....\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\log Vista 64 C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\log Try and view an red channel then post the end of the log, it gets big just the relevant piece may be enough. Also you vplug monitor screen Last edited by Ugg; 05-03-09 at 10:41 PM. |

Perfect timing Willin as I can only go upto getting vplug working in mdapi under media portal, then it would be upto someone more experienced to take the next step so you are that person Willin and right ontime.
I think Jacko has enough to keep him busy now. My vplug experience is it works but diagnosing it I am interested in learning. We will see.... |
