New Application: Auto FTP Key Updates to your box

I am having trouble turning auto updates off. when I change the value to A:{00} it will not save and just reverts back to A:{01}. Tried the file permissions but that would not change either, any advise would be greatly appreciated.

seems to be working in Swansea, keys have rolled, had prob fta box but it is working on all channels after reboot. will keep you all informed running laky pro snapshot with Vermin M. all good so far

Im new to this , the i.p address you put in is it off the box ? and how do you ping the address to find out if i get a reply ...thanx

Patch the Dbox into your switch/router.
On your dbox, put in an IP address within the same range as your PC and subnet mask (s/m).

eg:
PC = IP: 192.168.0.2 S/M 255.255.255.0
Dbox = IP: 192.168.0.5 S/M 255.255.255.0

(Your dbox could be set to anything up to 254, but not an IP that is in use...like .2, cos your pc has it and .1, cos your router will prob have that as the gateway)

On your pc...start, run, cmd (enter) - dos box comes up!!

type: ipconfig (this'll give you your PC IP address )
type: ping x.x.x.x ( replace the x with the IP address of the dbox)

example:---> ping 192.168.0.5

You should get 4 replies like this
Reply from 192.168.0.5: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=64

Give that a go...and report back...

I've found out that I have a dreambox. So I can ping my box ok. But when I try the passwords (root and dbox2) It comes up as a error saying the password is incorrect. Anyone no what other passwords it could be?

When I FTP into Var/keys to turn off autoupdate I right click camd_cfg (for example) but when I choose View/edit I get the message "Selected file cannot be opened. No default editor has been set or filetype association is missing or incorrect" Any ideas?

I realised later that the autoupdate is turned off via the remote control not via FPT, ie blue button / file manager etc.

so your dreambox needs to have an IP in order to get this working....
won't help people like me then, no router, will have to wait for a permanent solution then....darn!!!
