Angry Start of a long haul perhaps???

Surely I am not the only one who had an idea this was coming?
I was actually expecting this a week ago and was surprised when it didn;t happen!!!

As soon as Sky finalised the deal with Virgin to return their channels to the line up there had to be some sort of promises made by Virgin to uprate security - Sky don't like anyone having anything for nothing!

We have seen this before, was it March last time it changed? I can only think that it must be expensive for them to do it or they would have done it more often perhaps. Also I see there is a TV anti-piracy advert being run so it looks like they might be having a bit of a purge, so perhaps thia might be the first of a period of such key-rolls?

Just a thought....

It was always on the cards that this would happen again of course, you cannot blame the cable providers for doing this, they are not mugs they read these forums the same as the rest of us,and it is any wonder that they try to stop it happening, especially when so many of the people using these boxes dont even have a basic subscription to cable services ...and of course this will keep happening, over, and over, and over, they wont give up the fight ever and there is nothing we can do about it ....its just a pity we cant all win the lottery and could then afford full subscriptions with no worries ....the old saying that nothing is for free is very true, and one way or another we have to pay, like it or not Im afraid ....

Is it true that even if you cancel the cable subscription the box still works???? Do you still get the signal down the cable?

They tell me it does,I wouldnt know really as I have always had a subscription be aware that you are commited to a 12 months subscription if you go for one,or it used to be anyway ...its always best to have a subscription, that way you are sure of a signal down your cable feed, and dont need to be asking here for help if your signal starts playing up,not nmuch to ask is it really when you consider what you can get ....

Absolutely agree with that view, its just that I lost my original box and don't want to fork out £250 for another. When I re-subscribe I'll get a new one!!!!!! Checking if I can still watch for a short time!

Well just give it a try,to test it just plug the feed into your telly and if you get anything then the feed is still live ...

The type of network that VM use is similar to the Contention Access method in a Lan where ur cable is always live+listening until phsyically disconnected..as VM equipment have MAC's they only respond when incoming data is meant for them, ie the data frames have their mac address in them..anyway this just means that unless a physical disconnection takes place in the street or outside ur house, u ALWAYS have a live feed, as ppl who unsubscribe can always return in the future+VM wouldn't waste their time+money physically pullin ppls feed from the street cabs..all our boxes take advantage of the live feed as they have no talkback capabilitites or even a MAC so are actually parasitic on th VM network+are totally untraceable or undetectable..

If it was going to happen they would have done it by now ...but it would only take a few guys on light duties perhaps,to do it,doesnt take long to undo a couple of screws ...BT doesnt disconnect in their cabs either its all done in the exchanges though, quite obviously vm dont do that .....

FYI, Virgin media are now in the process off disconnecting customers (from the big green box) who have no contract or account with them, so if your one of those people who dont pay anything, dont say you havent been warned because you WILL get cut off in the very near future, how do i know this? well thats a secret
