guys i'm just new to this forum and its a **** hot forum

bad points i have to add and don't crucify me is


i've noticed on several other forums too that they will give a post count to newbies before they can access downloads etc which is acceptable

its not just the post count of 10 i'm critising that is fair its the other **** that follows with folk only coming to the site when their boxes are down and the slander they get for it


on the other hand

what if your only interest at home is the tv after you come home from work

you got yourself a box (you paid sponsers for it)

you read up on it from this forum

bang box is working


you come back when the box is down as the box is your only interest

and bang again you get slated for not conrtibuting to the site



what is the problem i just don't get it lads

The problem is not coming to the site too much, but coming here and asking inane,stupid questions, littering the place up with repeat posts, that have already been answered time and time again. Reading what has already been posted, often just ten minutes before, seems to be far too much effort for some people.

How many times today/yesterday, I have heard people whining

" I ve lost my channels, how do I get them back?"

I have lost count. The answers are already there. You guys, just READ THEM!! and stop being so witless.

at the end of the day rules are rules, i will do anything to protect this forum and members, most newbies are leeches,there are some that wont to learn but how can we tell them apart, we can tell that only when they get there fix and they come back and give advice on what they learned, or they wont to learn more, forums like this only ask simple things,like give back what you learn or be active, its not alot to ask or is it

Hi Gary - you make some valid points, let me just answer a couple of them.

We used to have a limit of 5 posts before folks could access the download area - we discovered that just caused to staff major headaches clearing up numerous posts dotted around the forums:

Believe it or not we used to regularly see sequential posts along the lines of:

One

Two

Three

One to go

Now wheres this fabled download area?

As for maybe having a go at the newbies let me point out many of the visitors are on a smash and grab raid. they dont give a flying fig about the forum - they just want the info on getting their dratted boxes up and running. Where have most of them been since the big key roll last April? They cartainly havent been here, so things go pear shaped and they come back to rape the forum for their own ends again..

The satellite hobby mods - myself included - get very weary of seeing cable related posts scattered all over our section of the forum and I for one feel totally justified giving a poster a rollicking if they are too stupid to use the forum correctly - we cant be bothered to finds the correct section most of the time now so any cable guff now goes straight in the rubbish bin

I ask all the visitors reading this to spare a thought for all the staff here - both cable and satellite section mods - we do a damned good job of keeping the forum going and legal. Every time an idiot posts the latest keys its another threat to the safety of the forum and remember most forum do not allow discussion of cable issues so if some jerk causes this one to get closed then where will you all go?

Hi guys just google "starview fix" and bingo techwatch is top of the list. I dont have cable but just tried it to see the results of the search. Keys etc also mentioned. A big problem here i think, and i cant see a solution. These cable people are even pming me I have my work cut out keeping up to speed in the sat game.

Ive said it before and i'll say it again,

The list of posts is endless, im not knocking people who cant or dont know how to update keys, but everything you need to know is in the search function, if its not working for you for some reason, well im sorry but suck it up until a fix comes out.

But 69 pages of this is just playing in to certain peoples hands. Dont you think if everyone was quiet then certain people wouldnt think it was such a success, thats just my 2p worth.

I got told i was rude and should go back to bed and get out the other side for this post, that thread is now 80 pages long and all thats been added to it is "mines off" "my keys dont work" "keymaster dont work". I used to love this site when i first got my box, now it takes ages to sort through all the c**p. Cant we make the search button a key, so then all the people with 10 post or less have to press it before they can see the forum. Silly idea but then there are some daft people about.

What hacks me off is when i get people with 0 posts sending me PMs asking for keys.

For god sake i'm a sat mod, i know knob all about cable nor do i want to know anything.

I'm also getting friendship requests from cable nerks which are going straight in the bin.

I'm getting pretty p**sed off everytime i i check my email to find loads of PMs from cable nerks who can't be bothered to look for the info they need.

I got my friends Eurovox working again for him, it took me about 3 mins to find the information i needed. If i can find the info why can't everybody else. Simply put they're to fookin lazy to bother looking

If i had my own way there wouldn't be a cable section. Its a pain in the arse in my opinion and its also the most likely section to get this forum shut down because the newbies can't be bothered to read the rules.
