If you wont be using the USB connection on the modem then it doesnt matter what the MAC is, just make it the same as the Ethernet MAC or whatever you want.

Mac address for USB is simply +1, so for example ff ff ff ff 01 was there ethernet address then ff ff ff ff 02 would be the USB MAC address, very simple.

Hi All, ,
I didnt get passed the P bit on hyperterminal (just white screen) not sure if the rs232 cable connected via converter usb plug for laptop is working!
Is there anyway i can tell if it is actually connecting to modem and working?

Sorry to say that generally the way to tell:
If you're using a serial > usb adapter...it's not working

Try it on a desktop pc with a 'real' serial port. Should be fine on that.

Jumbled up letters etc means you have the cable in the wrong way or you have an extra pin socket on your max232 cable and you need to shift it one along. Just try moving the max232 cable around you will get somthing eventually! As for the file make sure you have the TCP/IP set to 192.168.100.10 and the gateway set to 192.168.100.1. With the software that you are using to host the firmware, click show directory(or show dir) and make sure you hilight the firmware file and click ok.
