Default Please Read and lets all have a bit of consideration

Hi
don't think i have posted since i became a member on here back in june, However i read a lot, and have been on and off this forum since then and for the record not just when boxes and keys go down or change.

I constantly see posts over and over again of the same thing, requests, my box this, my box that, Please...i think this is the second post i have put up, but its really easy, read read read, and have some consideration to those that work on the scene and on this place too, you have all the answers you need, and you still ask the same stuff, come on people, you'll lose something of good benefit for all, putting posts up that could put it in jeopordy, so think before you post uneccessary posts and take a little time to give a bit back to save the mods etc the repetativeness of having to answer the same thing over and over again, there will be fixes but rome wasn't built in a day (so they say)
Anyway thats my rant over, well done to the guys on this forum here, your doing a spot on job at keeping this clean and tidy whilst trying to provide valid info to all - i'll drink to that !
Good Luck
Bigchap

agree with all thats said, esp deliberate spoofs about bogus and phantom solutions or requests for trivial stuff, but i allow a little latitude for complete novices, i think there should be a sign post for such members to guide them to basic stuff which could, should be gathered togerther for convenience.
on a more practical note, most of us no the real value of some of the info we get, and where we would be without it, so i hope when all the dust has settled, folks remember and give a little back £££

and no i am not sponsored by or anything to do with site operators, just think that when (not if) we are all in up the same creek again i want to do my bit to make sure the techwatch lifeboat is still afloat, with a full compliment of paddles.

Agree to some extent on the above but you and i have managed because we have read, i think they are clear enough, precise, tutorials, guides etc and its laid out pretty good, lets be honest its a tidy ship in here, but when things go wrong people want it yesterday, not saying ALL, just some, and they do it without making effort to read the different posts etc hence the repetative questions, which has a knock on effect for the mods etc, then people can't understand why the replys to some of them are a bit to the point shall we say!

I too was a newbie in April following keyroll. I found this site to help other sort their kit out - friends etc. As my name suggests, I am not a cable customer and pay for my sins!

Point of my post is, finally, that many people who now try 'alternative' sources of TV supply are not necessarily technical wizards nor do they understand the concept of internet chatter let alone message boards! One of my friends who has a box does not even have, or has ever had, internet access! Another of my friends does have such access and has visited this site although finds that the number of 'stickies' on each board is a little confusing as posts at the top appear out of date!

Point is, that evolution of the equipment has made such devices accessible to all ranges of people - not just computer geeks anymore, but also the 'technically challenged' and pc-illiterate pensioners!

So if you bear this in mind and consider that many people making their first post to ask for help might have achieved board membership by trial and error mouse clicks then you may think twice before shooting down Newbies who haven't found their way around the site too well......

Just a thought!

hi, thought it was just me that could not navigate round this site, only joined tonight & was looking for dbox2 info, coz of the war with NTL, anyway decided to put up a motorised sky dish over weekend, & guess what?
yes its still not working, more likely to bring a plane down than get the Sky channels.
thanks again for making me feel welcome

Newbies. you have to understand that after the last few days of mayhem some of the more senior members are a little tired of new members repeating the same questions without due consideration. So newbies be patient with these guys, they do a lot of good on this site to keep it as informative as it is. Normality will return soon and don't hesitate to ask your questions, it doesn't matter if you think your question is a stupid question, if you don't know the answer then it is not a stupid question, but try to search the site first.

NOW LETS
