Default first time j-tagging problems

Hi,
I'm new to JTAGing, but Im having problems.

I have plugged the J-TAG thing into the Parallel port of the PC.
Does this make any difference to using a straight thru or extension 25 pin cable?

I've tried both OCD Commaner and the Samsung Debug Tool.

Ive got a PACE 4010 and the JTAG is a POGO J-TAG from LincSat

I connect it all up (as in two different tuts), and when pressing Connect, SDT says : STATUS: Target Communications Erro: PC to Target Cable Disconnected

Any Ideas anyone?
All help much appreciated.
Thanks

EDIT:

oh stupid me,
had it on backwards.
thanks for the help

Could be as simple as ur not making contact with all pogo legs @ 1 time. It can be fiddly.
Persavierance is the key sometimes!
Do U have the tutorial on the 4010, available from downloads section?

Samsung SMT2100c
Locate the 20 pin connector on the LEFT side
pin 5=TDI
Pin 7=TMS
pin 9=TCK
pin 13=TDO
pin 2=3.3v and even pins 4 to 20 = gnd

Check your parallel port is in ecp or epp mode, Connect jtag as above, boot STB - cable feed disconnected - holding 'ch-' for about 30 seconds. Release 'ch-'. Run BKE v2.2 (box key extractor), click jtag > 2100 > connect. Job done.

Cheers, fitz
