Acorn electron here too

no idea where it came from, but there were hundreds and hundreds of mags with it, it would never load from cassette, and we could only ever be bothered with a few lines of programming

My first computer was an Amstrad CPC464 with built in cassette drive and a green monitor.

My first PC was a 4mhz 8088 with 20mb HDD and a green screen with a 5.25 floppy drive.

First machines we had were commodore PET's and a TRS 80. They were built to last; made of metal with a sort of shot blast effect. First personal machines were Acorn electron followed by BBC B (which was still bloody expensive second hand). Anyone remember the Archimedes and Zarch?? I remember playing that the first time and thinking wow! Last personal computer was an Amiga that I upgraded to 1024k memory (wow again).

Amstrad CPC64 with the green screen monitor that thing was awesome you had to have this special converter box to get it to run on the TV in colour lol

zx spectrum +2 128k that was the best with the tape drive for storage, and great games like pitfall and treasure island. I also had C64 didn't get on too well with that one lol

Can't quite match some of your guys feats...put was the proud owner of an Amstrad CPC 464 (green screen monitor lol) and later, an Amstrad CPC 6128.....I remember my brother managing to talk my parents into buying him a ZX Spectrum back in the day..

Started with a kit, Compukit UK101, (it was a ripoff of the Ohoi Superboard single board computer) 8k rom& 8kram, with a 6502 cpu. Had MANY hours fun with it! From there went to a Tatung Einstein, then my first PC was an Amstrad 1512.

Mine was a Spectrum...I think zx...xz ?
It had a Cassette tape for data transfer and some copied games would take about 30 minutes to load and then crash
My Next was an Atari ST

First one that got me intersted, was a "thing" that a bloke that worked with my dad made, it was as I remember something like a Commodore Pet, but it had a wood case, He used to tinker with stuff. God knows what was in it, but I was about 9 and thought it was cool.
My mum & dad got me a ZX81 with 1k RAM connected to a portable TV, with a tape recorder. And for my birthday I got the Printer, that used expensive silver Bog roll and the 16k RAM Pack.
Progressed to a Commodore 64. That had 2 5.25 disk drives and Simons Basic.
After that it was Cars / Beer for a few years. Bought my First proper PC-
An Amstrad clone 486 sx25 / 4Mb RAM / 1Mb Video Sound card and a Sony CD Drive (2 speed)

God look at me now. an office ful of Servers and PC's the slowest of which is a P4 2.8ghz / 4Gb RAM / 600 GB disk / 512Mb Video.

Scary how time moves on.
