Default Aspect Ratio

Hello, I am using a nokia dbox2 with the blade quad image. When viewing the channels alot of channels are displayed in 4:3 form rather then 16:9, on my tv the 4:3 channels are shown with black lines to the left and right of the screen. I have tried settings on my tv and made surethat dbox default output is 16:9 but this has not resolved the issue. It appears that the software is placing these black lines to keep the aspect ratio rather then letting the image strech. Is this the case? can I change any settings to allow all channels to be viewed in full screen 16:9?
thank you

do you really want it to do that, the reason that there is nothing there is because it is being broadcast with nothing there, if your TV does what you want it will just make everyone look fat, and makes footballs oval shaped like a ford sign !

IMHO you have it correct already, stuff that is meant to be wide screen fills your whole screen and stuff that is meant to be 4:3 keeps it's correct aspect ratio and is 4:3 on your screen

if you really want it your after the 4:3PS (pan and scan) option

true, auto will also fill the screen at all times, but it will still make peeps look fat on a 4:3 broadcast, there is little point trying to polish a turd, it is a 4:3 picture no amount of proding and squashing is going to make it 16:9 without either distorting the image or chopping a bit off the top and bottom, it's purely my opinion but I think you should just accept the picture for what it is, namely old and 4:3.
