Default Am i allowed to rewire my house.

Right now ive been thinking of doing this for sometime. If its allowed by VM and wont violate my terms of service.

What i want to do is distribute my Virgin signal round that house.
I was thinking of buying a splitter with an powered amplifier and taking the cable from the Omnibox outside up and into the loft. From here i would then drop cables down into the upstairs rooms. Mine, mums and brothers. Dont think the bathrooms need it to be honest lol.
We dont have any points downstairs except from in the Computer room, how can i distribute it round the bottom of the house? The upstairs is easy enough as i have the loft.

Any ideas? Oh and if its allowed lol

Thanks

Ahh right ok. Yeah its just id prefer to have easy access points for a Virgin Connection point. and having a main point in the Loft with the distro amp would be ideal for when i get my Server put up there. Need a connecton up there

if you doing work on your house is the best time to put the wires in (i wouldnt just make holes to do this), in mine i have cable wires going to my room and my sister room and also put network wires though aswell (cant stand wireless) , ive done this on most of my family houses no ever notice any fires

Well we aint doing work on the house. But id just drop cables down into the rooms from a hole in a ceiling and then tack it against the wall. Then put a backbox with required connections. Ive never put wires behind the wall you see and dont no how to go about it lol. Any tips.
Would be ideal putting in ethernet cables as well.
I cant stand wireless one bit. Although i do have it, but only my bro and laptop and dads laptop uses it. Oh and the ps3 and wii and psp lol. Thats the only reason.
Mine has been wired up for like 2 years and it makes an improvement. lol.

Lolz i like your thinking. reminds me of a girl i no. But thats not here nor there.
Anyhoo.
How do i go about dropping the cables down, simply cos i dont no how walls are laid out etc.
Im sure its simple enough for the upstairs ones. What bout the downstairs. Can i drop them straight down the wall from loft to downstairs room?
Or are the blockages?

Well, I'm planning on having a go at this...
I'm gonna run a cable from the drop box into one of the cupboards in the loft. Im gonna set the server, cctv and networking up in there. Ive got cat5 from three points downstairs terminating into a cupboard on the first floor (current home for my Router.
I plan on moving these points upto the loft cupboard, getting a switch, firewall server, server, cctv server, etc.
To each room upstairs room, I plan to run 2x Coax (one for Virgin, one for Freeview [along with CCTV output, possibly some local radio channels, and baby's nursery cam with microphone all on the analogue.], and then a Cat5 or two - I know CAT6 is future proof but hey they are all technophobes.

I'm intruiged in these Cable Boosters that you see on Ebay and such.

Your within your own right to wire your house, but its when you connect it to Virgin that it kinda breaks the T&Cs. But - they wouldnt be that bothered I don't really think. They are hardly gonna say that you can't have their services because you attached some wiring of your own - but I reckon that it is important to remember that cables must be terminated and outlets with no connection are better off having an isolator.

I've gone on a bit.

There will be blockages I imagine when dropping down. depending on how the walls are made, there is probably a stud or something here and there (i dont know joiner's terminology).

r.bate that sounds a really good plan you got there. Wouldnt mind having all that equipment my self. Expensive though..... off to teabay :P
I really need a server on the network though for streaming media content to my Xbox Media centre and PS3.
I dont like having my PC whiring with fans during a film :\.
So any ideas how i would get past the studs down to the bottom floor?

Help very much apriciated.
