Thumbs down Virgin rumours

i was talkin to a eurovox seller on ebay an he said virgin is sending a signal down the line and if you virgin box is off it bounces a signal back, they keep doing this from time to time and if the same responce comes back they send an engineer out and if he suspect your using a illegal box then they come back with the police.

load of rubbish i think cos ive had my box for years and they could of done that from the start!

I actually spoke to a Virgin installer recently, before I got my box and he said that both a telephone signal and a TV signal come down the same cable, just on a slightly different frequency. There is no talkback from Eurovoxes or others according to almost everyone I have spoken to.

As far as I'm concerned I have the minimum package anyway, but I imagine people who only have the Virgin telephone service can use a Eurovox.

Just my two penn'orth.

pile of crap..VM's tv service works with layer 2 signalling which means only MAC addresses that r on their database will respond+"talkback"..which means only their own equipment can respond or give away its on the network..our nice little viewing accesories have ABSOLUTELY NO TALKBACK OR LAYER 2 ADDRESSING SCHEMES WHATSOEVER+EVEN IF THEY HOOKED A TESTER UP OUTSIDE UR FRONT DOOR THEY STILL WOULD B NONE THE WISER..soz 4 the caps ops but i cannot stress enuff how much im p*ssed off with scaremongers tryin 2 make themselves look as if they have a brain cell+talk this utter tosh about bein detected..only way of bein caught by physical detection is 2 use a card in a subbed bos that aint had its talkback line snipped..

Ur right about the talkback but every box does add interference to the line which can be detected (in theory) at street level. Police in my area dont really respond to burglaries and street robberies, doubt theyre gonna go hand-holdin vermin media employees round town 2 find dodgy boxes!

Well done Seamouse, you spotted my deliberate mistake he he he

I did mean the broadband, not the telephone, but I have been trying to help so many people I think my heads about to explode
