advice needed pace box

I have a friend who has a sub pace box and as been disconnected by vmedia. They had a neighbour to get them a dodgy card and the box is now fully working.

The talkback on the box has not been cut.
Some settings had to be changed via the menu on the box for it to accept the card.

I'd like to know if this box can be detected by vmedia and also why the menu settings had to be changed.

ur not making it clear, if talkback was not removed, they have black listed the box and card ? is that what u mean?

get the talk back cut and there is nothing in settings the person would need to touch to mod the box if its in the same area prob turned the auto detect scart on any way get talk back cut ....do a search on tb on your model of box

The box can be detected if you watch anything on on-demand but don't worry they won't come knocking at your door.

no the box is not blacklisted as it is still working although vm have temp suspended my friends account. They are still reciving all channels.

So this box can be detected. The card was taken away by my mates neighbour and the bloke that did it never touched the box.

Any boxes that have been 'played' with and have not had the tb cut you have the high risk of being caugth by VM. They are clamping down on hacked boxes big time atm and if your's is phoning home everytime you turn it on it will be a short time before they knock on your door

Always cut Talkback... If you really really really must watch BBCi player etc then either get a free view box rented from VM or watch it online. The other again carries the same risks as above, if you are savvy with a soldering iron solder a switch bridging the cut so you can turn it on and off. I recommend getting one of the ones that light up when it is on so it is obvious

Yes very silly thing to do, they will probably turn up to collect it soon, they can see its being used for subscribed channels, and dont have to trace you ,sorry your friend as they have your mac and registered address.

what if the box was baught at a car boot how long could i use it for ppv before they black list the box ..as the box was never registered to me how easy would it be for them to find out were the box is.. just a thought ..
