Retrieve BK without unlocking card??

I have the chance to get hold of a pace 2000 myself with a paired card and am not brave enough to attempt the volt meter method so want to retrieve the bk by reading the card.

What I was wondering, is it possible to read an original rom without having to unloop it?? Not sure at the moment weather it is ROM10/11, dont no if it makes a difference.

I have an infinity usb programmer so if i put it in phoenix mode i should be able to read the card using say nagra or boxgetpc2 without the need for an unlooper?

as far as i know any ntl tw vm card MUST be unlooped to read it mate

Looks like im going to invest in an unlooper now then definately not brave enough to atempt the volt meter method.

you can tell if its a rom 10 or rom 11 by the number in small print which is at right angles to the barcode. if it begins 010 its a rom 10 and 011 a rom 11

oh, and i have had lots of success using the voltmeter method. i've got it down to 50mins from start to finish.

By the sounds of that you have carried out the voltmeter method quite a few times then.

In your personal experience, is it fairly easy to do when you get going with it??

Hopefully i wont mess it up, but if something goes wrong when i try unlooping the paired card I will have to resort to VM method.

yeah, theres 1 big thing to do when your doing this voltmeter thing......
get a peice of vero 'strip' board to ack as a switch/test block thingy.
stick it with a bit of tape to the main chip and run your wires off that.
i'm going to revamp that tut i think. also, i drew up a bit of a results recording table type thing.. to make it easier.... check out this other thread....
