Does it matter? The information is readily available on the internet and forcing people to sign up to view the details are just encouraging people to complain when their firmware flash goes wrong and things like that.

firstly I am a newby to this forum, I have never asked anyone for help with obtaining keys etc. This is my second post and my first was one relating to what constitutes a keyroll. As in trying to understand the complexity and cause of the problem that make the auto update fail.

So what constitutes meaningful posts? Do you decide that you are going to restrict access based on a post count. You then get the rubbish simply to generate post clicks. Start then censoring the posts to exclude drivel and you make the forum elitist, whereby newbies such as myself who are unable to add meaningful content as we dip our toes in the water as time/finances/technologies allow us to until we have gained that experience.

You have to remember that many people, treat whatever device they have as a black box. they are not interested in how it works. what else they can do with it etc. Simply they want to watch the film/sports channels without paying. Do these people really have anything meaningful to say anyway?

I would say, don't give unregistered users browsing rights into the forums. However, don't lock away the very thing that is likely to attract new users.

lolz yeah that would be excellent. And it would help by donating.
I no forums that charge something like £10 for a year and you get special priveleges. Not block the whole site. So its like VIP membership and you get like special access to stuff.

Wont happen though as the creators of the site like to keep it completly free. Which is nice

i agree and disagree... first off, i am ure a large percentage of the reguars on here only started off as guests. i myself joined as i needed to reset my pin and google pointed me over to here... and it is true that even if people are looking as guests, then it would only take them 2 mins to join up to find the info.

it is getting a bit stupid though with the number of people just coming on and saying ''how do i chip my box''... in my opinion, i think (and nothing against the guyes that run and angae this site) there could do with a better or a more oranised guides section.

i do think a lot of new comers are shot down and made to feel stupid. granted, a lot of them do ask stuff that has already been asked, and i know the info is out there, but it can be quite hard to find. and speaking from my own experience, a lot of the guides can be pretty daughnting and a lot of guies contradict each other.

and if a post count was inforced, there would be far more stupid questions and people saying ''i've read the guide, but where do i find the au files etc''

at the end of the day, the forum is on the internet so we cant really complain that people are coming on, and as i mentioned in a previous post, the site is bound to be busy at times like last week, as when the boxes are up and running, people are sat watching them...
