Default EUTELSAT W2 in the West Midlands

Hello guys,

I am new to this site so bear with me. I am subscribed to Canalsat Reunion in the Indian Ocean and I used to live in Mauritius. But now I have moved to Birmingham in UK and I have the following question:-

-Can I use my box and subscription here?
-The satellite in mauritius is EUTELSAT W2, can I pick up the signal here?
-If so, which satellite dish size shall I use?

I will be grateful if anyone can help answer my questions. Thanks.

Addy

No chance whatsoever for the Reunion channels anywhere in Europe - they operate on a spot beam beamed at the Indian Ocean

So what would you suggest I do? Is there any other way? What about Canalsat France satellite? Thanks.

If you want CS-Reunion you need to either move back home or use a slingbox to placeshift the signals from a box back in Reunion. (Needs fast broadband at both ends)

CS-France is an easy catch in the UK, although subscribing to it might be a problem unless you have contacts in France

Hello

I have recently moved to Mauritius from UK and wonder whether the Sky box will work over here. I desperately want to receive some English speaking channels especially children TV ie Disney Channel in English.

If too far from UK can we not pick English Channels from Australia or Middle East?

Many thanks

Take your Sky box down to the nearest beach and drown it to put it out of its misery. Its completely useless in Mauritius - you would have been better selling it before you moved...

You are in the middle of virtually nowhere and very little covers you. Theres no hope whatsoever of getting any of the European, Middle Eastern of Aussie channels.

You have a choice of the two French services covering Reunion

CanalSat Réunion on Eutelsat W2 at 16.0°E - LyngSat

Parabole Océan Indien on Eutelsat W2 at 16.0°E - LyngSat

Depending on the signal strengths you may get Mulichoice South Africa off 68E as well

I did some googleing for you and found this.

DStv Africa - Home
Includes oddly enough the uk disney channel.

It's also more english language centric than the 2 analogue sat suggested(ALOT MORE)

I hope this fills your needs.
Good luck.
