cycling, stuttering, flickering digivox.. please help

Hi first time, properly, on this forum, (posted in wrong thread earlier!) I m far from technologically minded, and i was wondering if anyone could help me. I ve a digivox, which has been stuttering for several days. My girfriend in her infinite wisdom decided to switch it off/on from the wall to solve this.... now all that happens is that i get random numbers cycling thru the digital channel display at the front of the box, displaying such things as 'boot' 'rA' and various numbers, eg 01,0 3 etc.. the digivox channel stays on for barely a seond before switching off, and then back on again, and repeats this cycle over and over again, whilst the digital display flicks thru the random displays....... any ideas will be gratefully received!!! many thnks
