EDIT: What modem is capable of 50MBPS or is it just a matter of flashing the Ambit 255 when a new firmware is released? |

Ethernet means there is no compatibility issues as there are no drivers required so it could be used on any operating system etc. Unlike USB which requires drivers for each different platform, also USB has a slower data rate than Ethernet so you would be potentially slowing down your connection.
You will find with most motherboards made that they have Ethernet onboard, even the older ones. Plus back when they didn’t come on the mobo; manufactures always stuck in an Ethernet card. The Ambit 250/255 is not capable of a 50mb connection, plus 50mb wont be available till next year so we will just have to wait and see what the modders come up with. The only thing you may run into problems with while using Vista (besides the entire OS itself lol :P) is if you are using a serial to USB adaptor to flash the modem as many people have reported issues while using these devices in Vista. However in terms of usability there will be no issues. The 250 has a USB and Ethernet however the 255 (as stated) only has an Ethernet connection. I hope this cleared things up!

So in other words, I could use an ethernet connection to flash the ambit modem regardless if it is 250/255?
