Default Comm port error

Hi guys trying to flash my max v with UFL max v2.0 update.

Its the first time ive done it and before i get slated yes i have read all the guides and ive read them thouroughly.

When ive connected all the rs232 and usb to serial to my laptop (this is installed correctly and verified in device manager) im getting the error message "no available comm port".

The device manager says the seial to usb cable is installed on comm 8.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

try changing the comm port address from comm 8 to 4 You should be able to do that from Windows device manager, right click on the com port and select port settings and advanced - there should be an option there to change the com port

hi gunit just ries to that and im in the right place ive tried all the comm ports from 1 to 8 and the only ones that will take the program any further (the update) is comm 1 and comm 2.

The prgram says chanell data upload and todays date in a new box but the start button is grayed out and no progress is being made im gettin nearer but not there yet!

Judd I had a similar problem with my PC, and despite a few requests I was unable to get it to work, similar messages about com port 1, 3 etc!, and then a "waiting to connect" message.
I brought a Dell laptop home from work!!! and bingo!!!! it down loaded in about 2 minutes.
My better techy minded mate reckons it is something to do with the Com port drivers!! (what ever they are)
