Default Got it up & working but a few questions

Got my motorised dish working with my new Technomate 5600CI receiver but a few things are still puzzling me.

1. Why are some channels still blank even though they say Free in the encryption. Is it just that they are not broadcasting?

2. Is a softcam just a software version of the CAM & Smartcard?

3. Is a softcam against the rules and therefore prone to key changes and loss of channels without warning?

4. Does the latest softcam file usually include all the previous versions of the softcam or do they all need to be loaded.

5. What's the best method of getting pron on my dish for minimum outlay?

6. Do i just need an HD receiver to get freesat HD and if so can you recommend a model

Any answers would be much appreciated.

Hi,

1. Check lyngsat, and re-scan the appropriate transonders for the missing channels

2. No, it is just a file containing keys

3. Yes

4.You can only load one, and only one is needed.

5. Pass, buy a subscription.

6.Yes a Freesat HD box is the easiest way, the TM6800/TM6900 and their clark tech equivalents, plus many others can get all the HD channels also.

Just load the latest patch, and softcam, for your receiver.
To get the HD channels you do need a HD receiver, and there are a few new ones being released soon.
At the moment the bst package open, on a patched receiver, is Digi TV on 1 West:
_http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/digi.html
For porn there are a couple on 5E, Hustler I think they're called, and some on Digi TV, like TV 1000, that show porn after a certain time.
Your receivers list might be out of date, check the channels on kingofsat or lyngsat, and if they're out of date delete them and re-scan the new ones in.
Robbo beat me to it, I blame cold hands making me type slowly !!!!!!!

Oh, there are a couple of really rubbish quality but hardcore FTA channels on 30W, Tu tele local, and a few others. They don't come on until late though.
