He's a prat for a start, for selling Virgin's box.
If or when he cancels his sub, Virgin will want it back and will come knocking. If they don't get it back, they can charge £250. The phone comes down a different cable, I wouldn't want to be in his shoes, as if he puts in a service call and they come round, they may want to know where the box is.

Na mate he should be ok,these boxes dont have talkback so the cable-co dont know he is using it. Tell him to try a different phone to see if that sorts the phone problem,if not then they are not ok,lol.
Let this be a lesson not to tamper with or sell your subbed gear. Good luck mate & hope everything is ok with his phone problem. |

...you could say that you had people working at your friends house and someone stole the original box....
link: Lost VM Box someone on here got a free replacement.... so long as the box hes using now doesnt have talkback he wont get caught unless you let one of them in and they see it..best to hide them! Last edited by fluffybunny; 03-12-08 at 02:24 AM. |

You don't buy the boxes from Virgin (like you do with Sky), instead you rent them from Virgin. This means they have to fix any faults with the box, as it's theirs - again unlike Sky. It also means that the box remains their property, so they can ask for it back at any time. This is why you're mate's a bit of a wally, as he's not only illegally modified a box that belongs to the company he's cheating, but he then sold the box even though it didn't belong to him!
Imagine hiring a car for the weekend, then changing the seats and adding racing stripes. Rental company won't be too happy when it comes to return time. Now imagine you sold the car too.... ![]()
