Default Going to fit my first dish at the weekend

Going to try fitting a dish at the weekend, I just wanted to check i had the correct info, it`s a 1m orbital dish and a moteck sg2100 with 18"t&ks and a tm-5200d super.
i shouldnt have any problems getting the pole plumb, i take it i get the satellite in a straight line with the motor and dish pointing south, put my details into usals, drive the dish to 4w amos (or am i better using thor?), set the dish elevation to 22 and the motor lat to 55.9 and skew the lnb about half a degree. after that i just need to clear up one or two points, adjusting left to right is that done by turning the motor on the pole and up/down using the dish elevation adjustment, have I got that right?
Searching around i found a good guide for tuning the arc by visiting different sats in a certain order, but i cant find it again. anyone know the one i`m on about?
i`m in livingston btw
my details from dishpointer

Sounds OK on the whole, but you will not get anything from 4W as it is not receivable in your location. You do not mention what receiver you have - but if you can, setup using USALS.

Enter your Long and Lat into your receiver setup menu and then send the dish to 1w. Then input/select transponder frquency [11325 H SR 24500] on receiver. (BBC World is on this frequency). Slacken the motor from the pole (horizontal adjustment) and the dish clamp (vertical adjustment - approx 22 degrees). Adjust the motor and dish until you get a strong signal on this frequency. Peak the signal further by skewing Lnb, but will not be far off vertical. Secure motor and dish clamp. You should now be tracking the arc.

Hi There,
just fitted my first satellite D.I.Y jobby today at home !!! Yippee !!

The only bit that isnt "yippee" is the bloody thing dont move ! I fixed to Thor .08 and got all me Channels no problem, scanned all in etc - everything fine, moved it to 28.2 E and did my Astra 2 - no problems same with Hotbird, no problems. When I went to do the others, Eutal W2 and Astra ! its stopped moving. Its a digipower sg-2100A motor, 1m Dish and a Darkbox Super HD Receiver, Any idea's ???? Gonna check everythings still connected correctly and not worked loose, only thing I can come up with.

If you have a problem it is better to start a new thread.

Most likely thing to check is cable ends at motor, lnb and receiver. Make sure you switch off receiver at mains before you disconnect cables. Core wire needs to protrude from the end of the F connector by at least 3mm. Also make sure that there are no loose strands touching the core wire - which could cause a short circuit.
Another thing to check is the LED on the motor which should be green if the motor is functioning correctly, but will be red if there is an error. There is a reset button on the motor to clear any software malfunction. It will be mentioned in your motor instruction manual.
I take it you have turned the receiver off at the mains and back on in case the receiver has got confused.

It is 5W, because it is closest to your longitude. But Thor will do, it's not too far away.

got it fitted and set up, all working well, getting a good strong signal on nearly all the sats programmed into the box and tracking the arc fine. thanks for the help. just doing a few blind scans, but struggling to find much in english. where do i look for english films, and series like one tree hill, i heard the swedes were a series ahead of us. is there much english stuff a patched technomate can open or should i fork out for a dreambox 500 from dvbmonkey?

At the moment there are very little encrypted channels open to us. On general emulation all that's really left is DigiTv on 1w. A Diablo will open up a few more channels on a couple more sats. But at the time being we are not being spoilt with choice.

A dreambox however will not open up anymore channels, and will still need a diablo cam to open the conax channels etc. The only way a DB will open more channels is through Card Sharing which is a whole different and taboo subject.

Well done petrolhead

As Pittsey has said there is not much open atm.

Digitv has quite a lot of english stuff on it.

There's also a few bits on Kingston package on Sirius 4 (5E) 12111 H 27500

And Multicanal at 30W 11535 V 24500 (you'll need the latest patch for this as the keys changed a couple of days ago).

Have fun with all the weird and wonderful fta stuff too!
