i have what, i think, is a very simple question for the experts here - Rodboy, Subzero, Plasterer and the rest of you (notice how i put Rodboy first?
) - which dbox would you recommend the sagem or the nokia? reason i ask is that the sagem is cheaper, and i was wondering if this price difference was a pointer to the relative quality of thw 2 makes.on a similar vein, which image would you guys recommend and how does the 'auto-updating' part work? does this mean i don't need to check the keymaster for the latest keys and manually input them as the AU picks them up? |

From personal experience, the Nokia's seem to be more stable. I own a Sagem and had a few problems with it initially, but the correct image and fiddling with a few settings normally makes it just as stable as the Nokia. The Virgin++ images are excellent on Sagems. However the Nokia's I have come across have generally been very good. Majority of problems on Dboxes are with the tuner, as these boxes are quite old (the manufacturers stopped production around 2001 I think) most of them are coming to the end of their lives so it is difficult to find a good box. You may want to consider the newer receivers, e.g. Eurovoxes, as at least they are new products. Try lincsats online shop, he stocks the Eurovox.

here comes the inevitable follow on question, how easy/difficult would maintaining a Eurovox be compared to the dbox? i.e do they use a similar type of sw/image and can you update keys using the remote?
oh and sorry to be a pain but the second part of my original query regarding the AU function on images such as the Laky and the Blade, if i flash with one of these will i stil need to check for new keys etc.

You can use any image you like, as long as you FTP over the new Nagrarom7 fixes, the box will Autoupddate.
With regards to the Eurovox, may be worth reading through the relevant forum on this site. Always good to know about common faults and issues with something before you buy! For ease of use, I prefer the Dbox, others the Eurovox. Just comes down to personal preference. Hope this helps.

sorry to go on like a whining ungrateful so and so ( it's amazing how i feel so much more comfortable asking questions like this without Rodboy making me feel really small and like a whining ungrateful S.O.B
)but how long does it take for the keys to update themselves using the autoupdate? reason i ask is that when i'm not at home and the keys go i keep getting phone calls complaining it's all gone Pete Tong..... ![]() as for the Nagrarom7 fix, i haven't done this for my Dbox as yet but updated the keys and all seems ok, is it something i should consider doing tonight when i get home from 'work'

Yeah, you should definitley get it done, check the 1st thread in the forums on how to. It's quite simple provided you have the necessary equipment (network card and crossover cable). I'm sure Rodboy means well, we all know what the real message is when someone continuosly teases you....
![]() The update is pretty much instant once the keys have rolled, you won't even notice it. So definitley get on to it when you get back from "work". P.S. I'm sure you love Rodboy's attention aswel, especially with a display pic like his...
