Default Flashing first Ambit 250

I've got all the relevant files, guides etc.. here is my first problem.

I have got my Max232 cable connected, got the ethernet plugged in, connected to hyperterminal got comms with the modem, when it boots up i'm supposed to press "p" or "1" or "2"?

I do this but nothing happens, i get no menu or anything, hyperterminal keeps scrolling down then eventually says "DISABLE CONSOLE OUTPUT"

Why are the key pressses having no effect?

Any ideas?

yeah, your modem has a new bootloader that was sent down the line on 'V day'

modems like this where bricks at one point but you can now unlock the telnet console. read the 'console unlocker' thread and get the tut and files from downloads.

You need the console unlocker and you need to flash a new bootloader in order to get the P option.

This is because VM locked out the console on a firmware update, all the information and files are available in this thread HERE

Once you have unlocked the console and flashed the new bootloader you will then have the P option, however make sure you press P right away because if you miss it you will have to repeat the process again.

Once you have flashed the firmware follow what ever guide you were using as normal, hope this helps.

Ive found them thank you. However i'm running the console unlocker v1.1b now, in fact its been going since half 9 last night an still going now, its 08:36am now?

using the instructions in the rar i downloaded it says it takes 10 - 15 minutes?

Using the serial port as instructed, set to 115baud 8,n,1. I am using a laptop so the Max323 cable is connected to a USB - Serial converter rather than a "true" serial port, would you expect this to make any difference?

It's still doing something as it's counting bytes down every so often i'm upto 17152 bytes so far. I don't want to stop it manually incase i bust the modem!

Any thoughts, thanks for all the help so far.
