i allways reccomend a usb port replicator they are a bit more expensive than the leeds people tend to get but are more reliable ive never had a problem with my one.Several people have posted in the past that when using the adaptor leeds the install hangs.
with ref to doing a factory reset b4 flashing in the past it used to be advised to do this as it clears the memory ensuring that there is enough memory to take the update.

Thanks for the advice. How do you perform the reset though?

Its not working for me and i get com port flashing between 1 and 4 and do not get dld on the box screen. Try clicking on either port and it says 'Waiting to reciever' or something like that.

Done a reset before install etc

Never had a problem before with flashing.

Obviously a glitch in this fix

finally got this sorted. How did I do it...simply by giving up trying with my system & getting my buddy round to sort it. All uploaded with the new 8% fix on. All checked, cdf back in & appears to be rolling. Changed a couple of keys just to check the update & seemed to work ok.

So thanks to all for your help & advice- I guess i'll just ask my mate to do it in future! He's hanging around here as well!

no need - all fixed & running after new f/w & re-loading original cdf file.
