Default 8% firmware fix - Will not flash

Hey guys,

Grabbed the new 8% firmware fix & ready to go. Got the usb Rs232, plus the null modem, downloaded my cdf off of the EVox box (for backup). The flasher can see the box - so I press send. IT starts a system reset, & is now sat there flashing 'dnld', whilst the prog show now progress.

This isn't the first time I've flashed the box but it just doesn't seem to want to send over the new file. Anyone got any bright ideas? Before anyone asks I've read all the guides - for my computer can see the box & vice versa, the file just isn't flashing.

thanks in advance...

When download starts try pulling the power cord from box and plug straight back in.

thought this had cracked it, but now keep getting the 'Download failed' message - and it's not switching to a successful message. Any other ideas?

Just leave it for a few minutes. Should change to download successful.

Thanks. I know it should have changed but it hasn't. When you normally get a 'download failed' it takes probably max 10 secs to change to successful. I left it for over 15 minutes without anything happening & when I put the TV back on the old firmware was still there (working thank god!).

Anyone got any other ideas - now tried this on both a windowz xp laptop & windowz xp via a Mac but with the same results, as wel as using diferent com ports (between 1-4). Plus I've used 2 diferent Null cables. Checking the cdf files in voxer confirms that communication is there between box & prog - for i've grabbed the prog file, but going the other way just won't work.

I'm open to ideas folks....

Just wondering if anyone else has done a successful flash with the 8% firmware (i havent tried it).
It sounds strange that the older firmware loads no problem.!

I agree carterjohn...

I've flashed my box before - particularly with the last 'round' of vm rolls in april. It's strange that it will grab the cdf (downstream) but will not send the firmware info 'upstream' to the box. I didn't reload any other firmware after this - I was just lucky that as writing to the box had failed the other firmeware wasnt all screwed up. Annoying me slightly as I've got a genuine Max V & just seem to be one of the unlucky ones. I whooped when I saw the 'fix' but this seems to be broken! lol!

Time for a starview 4 usb? lol

Again i'm still open to trying stuff out...thanks again all
