Default Dead-ish Eurovox

I recently had a guy try to update the software on my Eurovox. After he did it it has failed to start. When it's plugged in there is a quick circular pattern on the display and then nothing at all. Dead.

I'm determined to learn about all this stuff myself now, but on reading the manuals/advice etc on how to load new software the box is always powered up with 4 dashes ---- showing. I can't even get this.

Also, how can I tell if it's a RED box or a BLUE box? I don't know unfortunately.

All advice gratefully received.

From Ronsters newbie guide!
If your not sure which box yours is blue or red look at the box from above and you will see the tuner on the right, were the cable feed goes in.
The blue 06 box tuner will measure 12 slots in the grill/slots and the red 07 will measure 8

Box doesn't sound good, if it cant be flashed at all then jtag seems the only option left.

Thanks Pete. I checked out Ronster's guide and it seems I have a cloned box. I opened the box up and it looks exactly like the cloned picture.

I wonder if the attempted software update 'bricked it', to use Ronster's term.

What's jtag, btw?

OK, I've found out what jtag is.

Do you reckon that this will bring the cloned box back to life again?
