Flash Update Fail... AAARRRRGGGGGHHHH

I am trying to update both my own and a friends new Super Boxes with 8.02. i've got my R323 cable. Downloaded the software but every time I press download all I get is "flash update fail..."

I've tried using a pc and also a USB adapter on my laptop but it comes up every time.

There are sililar threads on other forums but no solid answers.

I know the boxes are not failty. My box currently has 8.00 so I am having to update KEYS every 5 minutes so I could do with sorting this. Can anyone help??? Please.

I had this problem when flashing although it's a sv 2 the box it might be worth a try, leave the power off on the stb, hit download then a second later power on stb, you may have to try a couple of times but it did work. Good luck

sounds like a clone, try factory reset first before you update it and turn box off at the back then turn this on and within 2 sec press download, ps only do this if you no its not a clone, ie you got it off someone you used before or of a good nature no scallys that was there one week and gone the next !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

where did you get your cable from? maplins? my rs232 from there wont work, need a null modem cable, seem the same but different internal connections.
got mine from skywonder, £2.99, delivered free in "2" days. hope this is of some help,cheers

Defo not a clone, as I mentioned, one of the boxes has been flashed with old software so I know thats not the case.

Will try ur advise Jokerjay.

Failing that, gonna try my mates cable which has been used loads of time so if that doesnt work....back to square one!

i couldnt do it with a laptop tried it with vista same problem but then tried it with xp worked fine??????

my m8's box got same problem, cant seem to flash comport is right tried all the above no luck at all any1 out there know how to fix this.

1 more thingy, how do i do factory resettings

It might not be relevant but I kept getting the message 'flash failed' trying to flash a starview 2-the box.
I spent hours trying all sorts with the same message but when I tried to scan after it did actually pick up all the channels so somehow it worked!
(I did a factory reset before the flash).
Maybe it's worth checking on the TV with a scan if it stalls at 0% for about 20 secs and then says 'flash failed'. I also used a USB converter with a null modem and I'm on Vista Ultimate-Maybe it's a Vista issue I don't know.

Which is the best USB to rs232 converter & from where can I get it from. It will be running on XP.
I neeed this to flash a starview 3 box.
