Hi guys, i've had my arnet box for a good months 2 now. To be honest i've had nothing but problems with it.
I understand i need to put new firmware on the box using a null modem cable 9 to 9 pin(m to f).Even though i paid £90 for an apparent 'plug and play' device that should have included the update software, rather than the march update. I've come to terms with this. Basically i don't have a 9-pin female connection on my computer. I've tried friends, family etc, but the computers' simply don't have the connection. I know there are usb converters out there, but from what i've read it's a complete nightmare trying to configure the ports, but is this the only way to get it working? Thanks in advance. |

your computer is to new,
find someone with an older computer with a 9 pin male connector, same as on the back of the Kryptview, then connect with a null cable 2 x 9pin female connectors. Update is simple. |

Just buy a USB to RS232 adapter from Maplins.(paid 12 quid for mine at the start of the year might be cheaper by now)..If you're running Vista it will automaticaly find the correct drivers as soon as you plug it in to your PC...If you have an XP machine the adapter comes with a disc with the drivers for you to instal.
There is nothing to set up atal to get it to work,it really is soooo easy. On my machine I just have to change the 'Com Port' to Com3 in the Arnet Loader program,Press Start,Then red button twice on the remote for Kryptview, followed by the Standby button. Then off it goes....I have done absolutly loads of these boxes using this method & have never ever had a problems. Hope this helps. Last edited by Cyclone; 05-12-08 at 07:40 PM. |

Send data from PC to STB ( image or channel list )
1.Connect STB to PC by null cable 2.Start up STB editor 3.Click on tools 4.Goto code/si ( code = image / si = channel data ) 5.A box will come on 6.Click on CODE/SI(By LOADER & K-TABLE) 7.Click on send 8.Click on open 9.Click on the factory data from your PC 10.Make sure you are on the right com & FTA MODEL 11.Turn off your STB by the plug 12. Click on start and then turn on plug at stb and it will start to send the data to the STB 13 Wait untill the STB turn back on |

Or use the method I use which works just as well...
1.Connect STB to PC by null cable (and usb adapter) 2.Start up Arnet Loader program on your PC. 3.Click Download 4.Click where it says 'OPEN' 5.Select the firmware file (make sure this has already been unzipped) 6.Make sure STB is switched on at the plug and a channel any channel is displayed on the digital display on the front of STB. 7.Make sure the correct COM port is selected and FTA_MODEL is in the 'Type' 8.Press 'Start' 9.Then press the 'Red' button on the STB remote twice followed by the 'Standby' button. I'm sure both this method and the one described in the previous post are just as good as each other. This is just the way I personally do it,have always done it & I've lost count how many Kyrptviews I've flashed this way.Never any problems ever. |

I bought a usb converter from maplin today, but they didn't have a female one so i had to get a male to female converter.
I still can't get the box working. I've assigned the correct com ports but when i try to start the download i get the message "downloading not requested". Is it because of the converter? Will i need to buy a female connection? Also the box is showing 2028 rather than 0000. I've tried both the red button method and the switching on after hitting start method. Both not working. |
